Enterprise Risk Manager

Opening our doors in 2019, the Minotaur Group is a full-service Washington, DC-based risk consultancy focusing on both geopolitical and enterprise risk.  We provide information and advisory services to corporations, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, non-governmental and international organizations, and individuals.


We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager to work as a 1099 contractor on a potential large university client in offering full-scope enterprise risk management services.  The contract on this project is still pending. 


The Job:  The position entails designing and implementing a comprehensive ERM framework as well as coordinating long-term sustainable risk management activities to support the ERM framework.  This includes:

  • Determining the clients risk appetite

  • Identifying and documenting highest enterprise risks

  • Establishing Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators

  • Developing risk discussion tools

  • Assisting in the development of communications plans

  • Working with the client to design an ERM governance structure

  • Reviewing current risk management activities and providing recommendations

  • Developing methodology to assess likelihood, impact and velocity of identified risks


The Person:  You are an ERM specialist and have experience plying your craft in an educational / Institution of Higher Learning environment.  You understand all aspects of enterprise risk management and are able to translate someone’s thoughts into actionable results.  You’ve front-lined with clients before and know how to work with them to achieve the best results on a project.


Minimum Requirements (Need to have):

  • 3-5 years of Enterprise Risk Management experience particularly in a Higher Education/College/University setting

  • Developing and supporting ERM strategies, objectives, processes, and policies

  • Developing, maintaining, and continually improving key aspects of an ERM program, such as enterprise risk reporting, risk appetite, risk identification & measurement, enterprise issue management, risk assessment methodology, emerging risk, and risk committee structures

  • A Bachelor’s degree


Desired Requirements (Nice to have):

  • Experience in managing client relationships

  • Project management experience (e.g., defining scope, setting project timelines and milestones, driving deliverables, identifying risks, managing issues, and client relationship management)

  • Established experience in understanding client needs, translating business needs into requirements, developing proposed solutions, and delivering high impact change initiatives

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), facilitation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical and impactful manner

  • Strong competence in developing presentations (i.e., MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel))
