Business Continuity Planner


Opening our doors in 2019, the Minotaur Group is a full-service Washington, DC-based risk consultancy focusing on geopolitical risk and homeland security.  We provide information and advisory services to corporations, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, non-governmental and international organizations, and individuals.

Our homeland security/enterprise risk division is seeking a contract Business Continuity/Continuity of Operations specialist to work as a 1099/contractor for a potential client in western North Carolina, working on developing a COOP Plan as well as assisting to design two tabletop exercises related to COOP.  The contract on this project is pending and the majority of the work can be done remotely with some travel to the client site as needed.

The Job: This is a standard Business Continuity Planning position for a medium-sized municipal government in western North Carolina.  This task-based contract position. Specifically, the job will entail:

  • Developing a Business Continuity Plan that covers all 11 components of a proper COOP Plan and that uses an all-hazards approach.

  • Contributing to the development and execution of two tabletop exercises that would have strong COOP elements.


The Person: You are an experienced business continuity professional that has done work with state, county or local governments.  You understand business continuity principles, and have direct BC/COG/COOP experience. You are a team-builder and can collaborate with a cross-section of people with differing agendas and can work with everyone from a line-responder to an elected official and everyone in-between.  You have designed and delivered COOP plans in the past and are an excellent writer.


Minimum Requirements (Need to have)

  • 5 years of successful experience in business continuity planning

  • Experience working in municipal/county government emergency management/business continuity

  • Have helped developed exercises


Desired Requirements (Nice to have)

  • At least 7 years’ experience in Business Continuity/Continuity of Government/Continuity of Operations

  • A CBCP and/or a CEM designation or other related designation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • An MEP designation and/or HSEEP certified
